At Four Seasons Hotel Las Vegas, fresh, seasonal flavors continue to take center stage with the creation of two new locavore cocktails that utilize locally manufactured spirits and ingredients found within a 100-mile radius of the Hotel.
As part of Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts’ successful initiative now in its third year, the creation of a 100 Mile Cocktail allows Four Seasons food and beverage outlets to showcase unique local flavors, local artisan purveyors and the creativity of talented culinary teams and mixologists worldwide.
This summer, Four Seasons Hotel Las Vegas’ chic new indoor/outdoor bar, PRESS, offers the Rhubarb Mojito, a tart yet refreshing concoction that incorporates subtle notes of fresh lime and mint. Meanwhile, Verandah features the Red Rock Sunset in which the tangy flavors of kumquats and lime balance the sweetness of locally sourced honey.
Both outlets have partnered with Las Vegas Distillery, Southern Nevada’s premiere artisan manufacturer. The rhubarb, limes, kumquats and mint are purchased at local farmers markets.
Verandah’s Red Rock Sunset
3 lime wedges
1.5 oz local honey syrup
2 oz Las Vegas Distillery Vodka
A splash of club soda
Method: Muddle honey, two lime wedges, vodka and kumquats. Add ice, stir and fill glass with club soda. Garnish with a lime wedge.
PRESS’ Rhubarb Mojito
2 oz. Las Vegas Distillery Rumskey
0.5 oz rhubarb rock candy syrup (see recipe)
½ fresh lime cut into quarters
1 sprig of fresh mint
1 tbsp fresh rhubarb
Rhubarb Dry Soda
Rock Candy Syrup
1 part water
2 parts sugar
1 bunch rhubarb
Rock candy syrup method: Place all ingredients in a pan and simmer until the sugar has dissolved and the rhubarb is cooked through. Puree and strain.
Cocktail Method: Muddle mint, lime, rhubarb, Rumskey and rock candy syrup with crushed ice. Pour into glass. Garnish with a slice of rhubarb.
